Sea Horses
I have always thought Sea Horses were pretty bizarre! Technically, they are small bony fish in the genus “Hippocampus” which roughly translates from the Ancient Greek meaning “Horse Sea Monster” Looking at these guys, I’d say this is fairly accurate 🤪 Although I like to think of them as friendly, rather than monstrous!
There are several characteristics that really set the Sea Horse apart from other sea life… their spiral tails, upright posture, horse-like heads, excellent use of camouflage, ability to change colors, independently articulated eyes… these all come together to create a fascinating creature both scientifically, and aesthetically. Overall, an excellent candidate to explore artistically with some wild colors and complex patterns!
