My brother Tony gave me the inspiration for this series. He is a musician and vintner who owns a winery called Frequency in British Columbia. He has a unique concept where he exposes his wine to different sound frequencies. If you’ve ever watched what this can do to sand… it’s pretty amazing, here’s an example on youtube. I can only imagine what it’s doing to the wine! Whatever the case, it's fantastic!
He sent me the basic sand patterns for the three different frequencies. I used these lines as the foundations for my drawings, and dove off the deep end with my own patterns within. Music has always been a huge part of my life, and it was an awesome project to create these pieces with their specific frequencies and sound waves in mind. I feel music has an immense power to move us, both physically and emotionally… a song can change your mood in an instant, and it’s my hope that the energy and love infused in these pieces will resonate far beyond my studio… turn it up!
